Akbar Montaser has served as Professor of Chemistry for four decades (32 years of which at The George Washington University, 1981-2012). For nine years, he concurrently served as a Program Director, Division of Material Science, at National Science Foundation. He is recognized worldwide among the top group of scholars specialized in the theory and development of high temperature plasma methods for chemical analysis in complex matrices. He and his team are the authors of ~500 articles and presentations. He is the author and co-editor of three most comprehensive books acclaimed as the “Bibles” of the field; his two new books on plasma spectrometry go to press in 2015. As a spiritual humanist, he observes Sufism. A staunch advocate against wars and violence, he stands for human rights, justice, and the abolition of weapons of mass destructions. He frequently writes on Iran and U.S. in newsprints, online media, and blogs.
