COMM 110 Media Ethics BA Broadcast Communication Favorite book or novel: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. The main character, Lisbeth Salander, is a woman who does not let herself be defeated and takes her revenge against those who wronged her. Ever since I read the novel, it inspired me to be as tough as the main heroine is. Favorite film: Gone Girl (2014) dir. David Fincher. At first, Gone Girl seems like a typical story where a wife is murdered by her husband. The second half of the film belies that trope as it shows that the wife is not a typical victim of domestic abuse and is the real villain all along. I love this film because it is not cliche, showing that women are capable of evil as well. Favorite media practitioner: David Fincher. He has the ability to tell such gruesome stories without being shocking, lulling one into a sense of calm before the storm. Favorite musician/songwriter: Hozier. Aside from his powerful voice, his music is inspiring and powerful because he uses it as a platform for speaking up against injustice. Favorite meal: Adobong manok. I love it especially when it is oily instead of being soupy. Adobo is one of my parent's specialties and it always reminds me of home cooking. Hobbies: Watching movies/TV series, listening to music, making paracord bracelets.
