Ascending Olympus

I am embarking on a new adventure. At 62 years of age I am learning how to drive a horse-drawn carriage. My dream is to go clip-clopping down a country road with a stylish pony pulling my spiffy carriage while wearing a very fashionable chapeau. In the meantime, I'm taking driving lessons reading books and magazines devoted to the sport and joining clubs of like-minded people. My short term goal is to become a useful volunteer at carriage events and to complete the requirements of the Level One carriage driver certification offered by the Carriage Association of America. And to have fun ! 6 years later I’m the owner of a wonderful 5 year old Fell Pony gelding named Olympus, who is boarded 15 minutes away from my home and for whom I provide all care on a daily basis. We aren’t carriage driving yet but we’re working on it. On Jan 15, 2020 I lost Olympus after a heroic 2.5 month battle with recurrent colic. I am now awaiting the arrival of a two year old Fell Pony gelding named Aristotle. I will never "get over" losing Olympus. I am learning to live with the loss. And so, the journey continues.
