Irene Lofthouse, Writer

A storyteller, author, scriptwriter, actor, director, producer, historian, creator. I work in theatre, radio, festivals, heritage projects, education, community and on site-specific experiences. In 2020 I've worked with Freedom Studios on 'BD Storie's and created online learning content for their FSYTube; devised and filmed learning content and resources for The Piece Hall, Halifax; videos on poetry styles for Saltaire Festival Poetry Competition; co-written a guided walk for Aire Rivers Trust; been writer0inresidence with First Story; a history/story consultant with Historic England and a writer/editor on creative projects with 26 Characters. For many years, I've run my own creative writing workshops, and facilitated sessions for schools, festivals, museums, education departments and colleges across Yorkshire/North East. I've appeared at Edinburgh Fringe, in films, on radio and in many regional productions; adapted stories and hidden histories for stage and radio. My 'Words, Women and War' is in its fourth year of touring.
