Joined comics fandom via Blackhawk #225 LOC Trade Corner as well as spotting GB Love's first advert in Marvel Comics for RBCC. First ish was #45. Placed first ads for comics in RBCC #47 Oct 1966 age 13. Set up at my first comicon in Houston June 17 18 1967 turning 15 at that show after having rode a Greyhound Bus for 28 hours south to get to it. After a couple comicons a year began getting serious about them nationwide in 1970 setting up at Seulingcon July 4th week end onwards. Sold every year at San Diego Comicon beginning with #1 in 1970 onwards till 2011. Began going as a civilian in 2012 and actually enjoying the show once again. Published a comics fanzine 1969-70 titled Fanzation. #3 sports a Steve Ditko letter on creativity; #5 is an origins of comics fandom special issue with articles by Ted White and Jack Promo on EC fandom and fanzines of the 1950s, one by Jerry Bails on the origins of Alter Ego in 1961; Bill Wallace wrote up the origins of Houston fandom which began doing early shows in 1966 onwards Co-creator of the first comic book chain store operation called Comics & Comix which we opened in the first one in Aug 1972 just a couple weeks following the first El Cortez comicon in San Diego. Within a year we were operating in cities in four counties: Berkeley, Sacramento, San Francisco and San Jose. Also ran a comic book chain store operation called Best of Two Worlds in Berkeley, three different ones in San Francisco and one up in Santa Rosa where Charles "Sparky" Schultz was a customer. Since invited Oct 1996 have fronted proper comics business history articles in Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide beginning every year with OPG #27. Will come back to this when I have more time. Hopefully this is enough to begin "chewing" on -:)
